At Akua Family Therapy, our goal is to help you strengthen relationships, improve mental health and adjust to changes in your life. We provide services that are ethical, professional, culturally sensitive, evidence based and trauma-informed.

We help couples, individuals and families. Whether you want help working through a hurt and conflicted relationship or are looking for mental health support, relief, insight or change, Akua Family Therapy is confident and hopeful that we can help you get to where you want to be mentally and relationally.

Our Locations

Kurtistown - Big Island - Hawaii

Centrally located on the East Side of the Big Island, our Kurtistown office serves Hilo, Hamakua, Puna, Kau and Kona clients. It is a shared space with Kurtistown Assembly of God church, located at 17-550 Volcano Hwy., Kurtistown, HI 96760. We utilize the second building on the right when you pull in the driveway. We have three therapy rooms. We ask that upon arrival, you have a seat on the lanai or waiting area and your therapist will attend to you at your scheduled appointment time.

Hawaii - Telehealth

We conveniently provide online therapy as a curtesy to our clients who are unable to come into the office. We serve all of Hawaii via our SimplePractice Telehealth app.

Every client will have access to their own SimplePractice Client Portal where you can schedule appointments, sign & upload documents, attend telehealth appointments, see your billing invoices, message your therapist privately and more. Interested in seeing one of our therapists? You may request an appointment here. One of our therapists will follow up by emailing you our intake paperwork including our general policy, HIPAA privacy policy, intake questionnaire and a few other documents. We give scheduling priority to clients who fill out requested documents.
