Meet Jonette Fujitake
Aloha! My name is Jonette Fujitake, and I am honored to join Akua Family Therapy as a Student Intern and Counselor in Training while completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University.
My approach to counseling is rooted in respect, genuine care, and compassion. Born and raised on Hawai‘i Island, I’ve been blessed to serve our local community as an elementary educator for 25 years. Working closely with students, families, and fellow educators has given me a deep appreciation for the richness of our island’s cultures and diversity — as well as the many challenges people face during life transitions.
My personal journey has been shaped by experiences in marriage, parenting, divorce, blended family life, co-parenting, grief and loss, career changes, depression, and anxiety. Through these seasons, I’ve found strength and hope in my faith in Jesus Christ. I value quiet time for reflection and renewal, and I carry a deep belief in the potential for healing, growth, and transformation in every individual.
I am passionate about helping others explore identity and self-worth, build confidence and self-efficacy, and strengthen parenting and child development skills. My goal is to provide a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
As part of my training, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also certified in Prepare and Enrich for premarital and marital counseling. I look forward to expanding my skills in therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Whether you're navigating a specific concern or a life transition, I look forward to supporting you on your journey and collaborating with you to pursue healing and hope.
