Position Overview:
Roles of the therapist include:
providing mental health counseling to clients seeking Christian faith-integrated counseling and psychotherapy;
supporting clients in navigating life challenges through a biblical worldview while applying clinically sound therapeutic techniques;
offering mainstream therapy services to clients who do not seek faith-based counseling, ensuring inclusivity and respect for all; and
working collaboratively with a team of skilled therapists who are committed to providing holistic and personalized care.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Licensure: Active licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, LPCC, or Clinical Psychologist in the state of Hawaii.
Training/Experience Preferences:
Formal training and/or experience in Christian counseling or faith-based therapy is highly desirable (may include ministry experience).
Looking for a therapist with training in Gottman Method for Couples Therapy level 1 and 2, or other couples therapy methods.
Experience working in child and adolescent mental health.
We are also looking for a certified substance abuse counselor.
Strong skills in evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, EMDR, DBT).
Cultural Competence: Ability to work respectfully with clients from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions. We believe that cultural awareness and sensitivity is important in providing good therapy. Akua Family Therapy is building a team that values relationship, relatability, and skill in quality rapport building. What We Offer
Compensation: Percentage-based pay with competitive rates. Pay for admin and training hours.
For pre-licensed therapist - Pay ranging between $42 to $75 per client hour.
For fulling licensed therapist - Pary ranging between $52 to $90 per client hour.
Bonuses for full time W2 employment:
$1,000 signing bonus for new employees who stay with us for six months or longer.
Annual $500 bonus for continued service.

Health Insurance: We offer HMAA health insurance (medical, vision, drug & dental) coverage to full time employees. $300 per month medical bonus for full time employees who elect not to receive medical insurance.

Akua Family Therapy is seeking talented therapists to join our growing team! We have multiple openings for licensed or pre-licensed professionals, with a preference for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Ideal candidates will have experience working with adults, couples, and families, and be comfortable with after-school and early evening hours (no weekend work). We're also particularly interested in candidates with:
Trauma Therapy Expertise: EMDR training preferred or willingness to train.
Substance Abuse Counseling: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) designation a plus.
Group Facilitation Skills: Experience in leading and organizing groups is highly valued.
Couples Therapy Experience: A demonstrated ability to work effectively with couples.
