Anger Management & Assessment

Anger may or may not be your problem... let's work together to find out.

Did you know that there is something called "Good Anger"? Good anger is described as a normal response to wrongdoing, injustice or mistreatment. "Bad Anger" is described as a distorted response to others when we incorrectly perceived their actions to be wrongdoing, injustice or mistreatment. The emotion of Anger is not the problem, problems are more likely associated with negative thoughts and inappropriate actions or reactions that are expressed as a result of anger.

Anger Management Assessment

An anger management assessment is a thorough evaluation process conducted by trained therapist in a one session clinical interview along with an assessment tool and behavioral observation to understand an individual's anger triggers, responses, and underlying factors contributing to their anger issues. Based on the assessment findings, tailored therapeutic recommendations are provided, which may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques and stress management strategies. These recommendations are designed to empower individuals with effective tools and coping mechanisms to better manage their anger, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall well-being.

Anger management assessments are administered by our therapist Kristi Efford. We use the Anger Management Assessment - Short Form (AMA-SF), produced by the National Anger Management Association (NAMA). Kristi Efford will administer the AMA-SF along with a clinical interview and observation. You will be emailed your assessment results within 7 days of your assessment interview. The cost of the Anger Management Assessment is $150. We accept cash or credit/debit card, we must recieve payment prior to emailing your results.

Anger Management Therapy

According to the American Psychological Association, approximately 75% of people who seek therapy for anger management improve as a result! Everyone experiences anger, a human, important and informative emotion. However, uncontrolled anger can quickly become problematic, raging havoc within families, at the workplace, even having lasting legal ramifications. The target of anger may be a stranger, a loved one, outside circumstances or even at oneself.

Anger management therapy is a structured therapeutic approach aimed at helping individuals understand, manage and express their anger in healthy and constructive ways. Therapy typically involves a combination of cognitive-behavioral techniques, psychoeducation and relaxation strategies to address the underlying causes of anger and to develop effective coping mechanisms. In anger management therapy, clients learn to identify physiological and emotional triggers that provoke their anger, recognizing signs of anger arousal and employ various techniques to regulate their responses.
