RATES & INSURANCE
Rates
Our current rates vary dependent on specific service and provider.
When seeing a licensed provider (Aaron Collins, LMFT): Generally we charge a fee of $160 per 55-minute session.
When seeing a pre-licensed provider, working toward licensure: Generally we charge a fee of $110-$150 per 55-minute session.
When seeing a master's level intern, we may have rates as low as $20-$40 per 55-minute session.
Sometimes we offer a co-therapy session for couples to work with two therapists. For a co-therapy session we charge a fee of $160 per 55-minute session.
Insurance
We currently bill BCBS, HMSA, HMSA/Quest, HMAA, and UHA for adults who are seeing a fully licensed therapist with Akua Family Therapy.
Supervisory Billing for Minors: Minors with HMSA or HMSA Quest are able to be seen by our pre-licensed therapists under the supervision of a licensed therapist. We are taking minors age 0-17.
Please send us a copy of your current medical insurance card upon appointment request.
Minors require consent from both parents unless there is a safety reason.
Reduced Fee
We believe that therapy should be available to everyone. So, we offer affordable rates and will consider a reduced fee on a limited basis upon request.
Payment
Cash, check, and all major credit cards are accepted for payment.
We add 4.712% GE Tax to fees and insurance reimbursements.
Private Pay and Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one (1) business day before your service. You can also ask your mental health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay a $75 fee. We are not allowed to bill a no-show fee for clients with Quest insurance (we reserve the right to early discharge). We understand emergencies come up, but if late cancellations become a problem we reserve the right to end services (see our general policy for more details).
